Michael is an information security specialist focused on targeted attack incident response and recovery. He has over 20 years of experience in security, including 7½ years performing incident response for customers across the globe with Microsoft’s targeted attack incident response team. During this time, Michael developed the framework used for targeted attack recovery and helped design and develop many of their detective capabilities.
Currently, Microsoft works as part of Microsoft’s Defender product group assisting customers in onboarding and operationalizing the Microsoft 365 Defender suite of products. He specializes in the advanced hunting capabilities of the product and produces videos and queries for public use.
Outside of his primary occupation, Michael regularly speaks at colleges and conferences on information security and targeted attack. He is the author of Think Like a Hacker and is a member of the technology education curriculum board for Keiser University.
In addition, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and driving around the Tampa Bay area in his convertible.
